Regionalismos

This was a fun project to make. I wanted to build something around the words, expressions, and slang that are unique to Madeira. A place where you can discover what they mean and how they’re used.

I also wanted the words to sound like they came from Madeira. ElevenLabs only offered Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese from Portugal, so I experimented with training a model using the Madeiran accent.

I recorded my own voice to capture the accent, then layered it with a female voice model. Combining the two helped me achieve a voice that felt much closer to the way people actually speak in Madeira.
